Which Technique Fits Your Skin?

Most brow regrets happen when the wrong technique is used on the wrong skin type. At MOKO, we start with a biology check. If you have oily or combination skin, traditional microblading can blur over time. We use nano brows (machine hair strokes) to ensure your strokes stay crisp—think of it as the oil-proof hair stroke option. If you have normal-to-dry skin, microblading still works beautifully. And if you want a polished, filled-in look or you fill your brows daily anyway, powder or ombré brows give you soft, waterproof definition 24/7.

The Eyebrow PMU Process

WHAT TO EXPECT

  1. 1

    Consultation & Mapping

We analyze your skin texture (oily vs. dry) to pick the safest technique for retention.. We map, shape, symmetry, and proportion before any pigment is placed—so the design fits your face, not a trend.

  2. 2

    Technique Selection

We choose nano, microblading, or shading based on skin type, natural brow hair, lifestyle, and desired finish. We build your brows stroke by stroke and pixel by pixel.

  3. 3

    Healing & Touch-up

You’ll receive aftercare guidance and a healing timeline. Typically 7-10 days of surface healing. A touch-up is required 10-12 weeks later to lock in color and density for long-term results.

Permanent eyebrow makeup is a family of semi-permanent techniques designed to enhance your brow shape, balance, and fullness — with results that look natural, not tattooed. The choice comes down to hair strokes or soft shading. Hair strokes (nano brows, microblading) create realistic texture. Soft shading (powder, ombré) delivers polished definition. The right technique depends on your skin type, brow hair, and the look you want.

Important Information

Common Questions

Straight answers to the questions people ask before committing to permanent eyebrows.

How long do permanent eyebrows last?

Permanent eyebrows typically last 2-4 years depending on technique and skin type. Nano Brows and Powder Brows fade more evenly than Microblading. Oily skin may require touch-ups every 18-24 months, while dry skin retains pigment longer, up to 4+ years.

What’s the difference between nano brows, microblading, and powder brows?

Nano Brows use a machine to create ultra-fine hairstrokes ideal for oily or mature skin. Microblading is a manual blade technique best for dry/normal skin. Powder Brows create a soft, shaded look like makeup. Nano lasts longer and heals crisper than Microblading.

Does eyebrow PMU hurt?

Most clients describe eyebrow PMU as mild to moderate discomfort, similar to tweezing. Topical numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure to minimize pain. Nano Brows and Powder Brows are generally more comfortable than Microblading.

Can you fix old brow tattooing or previous PMU?

Yes, in most cases. Correction depends on current pigment color, saturation, and placement. Cover-ups often require Powder Brows or Nano Brows to neutralize old pigment and reshape. Severe cases may need lightening or removal first. Book a consultation with photos.

How long does eyebrow PMU take to heal?

Healing takes 4-6 weeks total. Initial scabbing occurs days 3-7, with color often appearing much lighter. During this "ghosting" period, eyebrow hairstrokes can even appear invisible for a few days and come back. Final results appear after 6 weeks. Avoid water, makeup, and sweating for 10-14 days. Nano Brows heal faster than Microblading due to less trauma on the skin.

How much does eyebrow PMU cost?

Prices range from $400-$1200+ depending on technique and artist. Nano Brows and Microblading average $800-$1200. Touch-ups are required (6-8 weeks after initial appointment), are typically $200-$600. Annual refreshers cost $500-$800.

Can I get eyebrow PMU while pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. Most artists won't perform permanent makeup during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to hormonal changes affecting pigment retention and potential risks from numbing agents. Wait until after breastfeeding for best results and safety.

Can I get eyebrow PMU during chemotherapy or cancer treatment?

Book permanent eyebrows before starting chemo, ideally allowing 4-6 weeks for complete healing prior to treatment. Once chemo begins, wait until 6-12 months post-treatment with oncologist clearance. PMU helps restore confidence during hair loss and eliminates daily makeup.
